Galatians 5:13

I thank God everyday for the Freedom I enjoy as a citizen of the United States of America.  I am proud to be an American.  In this scripture in Galatians, the liberty (freedom) that the writer was suggesting is the Freedom that only God can give.  This Freedom comes in knowing who God is and having a true relationship with Him.  There is a warning in this passage to "use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another."  Too many times we make excuses as to "why" we don't reach out to certain individuals based upon our "religious traditional beliefs."  I am finding that the older I get the more I realize that God's Kingdom is not prioritized by a church building.  Don't get me wrong, I am a strong proponent of going to church.  However, the church is not the only place where you can have an experience with God that is beyond comprehension.

Many things have changed in my life in the last several years.  I have gone from being an evangelist to a Pastor, then an undergraduate student to a graduate student, and I am currently getting ready to undertake an new career which will place me in the rank of Director/Chaplan.  All the while I have continued to be a  singer, an evangelist, a wife, a sister, an aunt, a granny, a cook, a writer, a student, a teacher, a counselor, an advocate, a community leader, etc., etc., etc. Through all of these venues, I still remain "free" from sin.  I have an ever increasing desire to see the Father, Jesus, and my heavenly home.  I do not  plan to stop any time soon.  I plan to continue to serve God the rest of my days in the freedom of the spirit which keeps me going day after day, week after week, and year after year.

It is my constant prayer and hope that those I love and know will continue to do the same.  Continue to live a life of freedom.  Freedom from sin, Freedom to worship God, Freedom to be who you are in Him.  Go with God today and the rest of your days.  He is the only hope for this world and you and me!

Sincerely,

Rev. Sharon L. Montgomery
